With just over a week to go, excitement is hitting fever pitch for the return of the iconic Bray Air Display on Saturday, August 1st. Whether you are looking forward to the next-generation Aer Lingus Airbus A321XLR, the high-octane military flypasts from the Irish Air Corps, or the thundering historic warbirds, planning how you get to the seafront is the secret to a stress-free, perfect day out.

To ensure a safe, smooth, and enjoyable experience for the tens of thousands of spectators heading to the coast, a comprehensive Traffic Management Plan will be in place throughout the day. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming road closures, parking rules, and top travel tips to keep your journey on track.

Temporary Road Closures & Restrictions (Saturday, August 1st)

To facilitate safe pedestrian flow, public transport, and emergency access for the event, temporary road closures will take effect from 10 am to 8 pm on the following roads:

• Strand Road
• Albert Avenue
• Sidmonton Avenue
• Convent Avenue (to Sidmonton Road)
• Seapoint Road
• Putland Road (up to the first junction on Newcourt Road)

Please keep in mind that all traffic restrictions and road closures are subject to change without notice. Local access will be facilitated by stewards and officials, where possible, on roads with traffic restrictions in place.

Seafront Access & Delivery Timings

From 10 am to 8 pm, no vehicle movement will be permitted on Strand Road due to the installation of mitigation barriers. If you manage or supply a business along Strand Road or its adjoining roads, please note that all commercial deliveries must be completed in full before 10 am.

Strictly Enforced Parking Restrictions

A strict “No On-Street Parking Enforced” policy applies to Strand Road and all listed closed roads starting at 7 am. Parking in nearby residential estates is also prohibited, and towing and clamping services will be actively operating throughout the day.
If you are driving, the official event car parks (North at Bray Emmets GAA and South at Ardmore Rovers FC) open from 10 am and will close sharply at 8 pm. These official sites include free, continuous shuttle bus transfers straight to the seafront.

To make sure you get the most out of your day—with the seafront entertainment opening at 12:00 noon and the main air display flying from 3 pm to 6 pm—organisers ask all visitors to follow these essential travel recommendations:

• Go Green: Visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transport, carpool, walk, or cycle where possible to avoid regional traffic congestion.
• Leave Extra Time: Plan for at least 2 extra hours of travel time.
• Arrive Early: Arriving before 2 pm is strongly recommended to avoid peak delays and secure your spot.
• Book Parking in Advance: Parking at the official event car parks is pre-book only at brayairdisplay.com/shop/. Please note that parking access is not guaranteed after 2 pm, even if you have a booking, due to high pedestrian volumes.
• Watch the Signs: All attendees should follow the active Variable Message Signage (VMS) on the roads and use designated Eircodes for accurate routing directions.
• Stay Calm on Approach: Drivers are advised to exercise caution and patience on all approach routes to Bray.
• Stagger Your Trip Home: Consider staggering your departures after the event wraps up to ease outbound traffic congestion.
• Be Prepared: Staying hydrated and prepared for travel delays is essential, especially if travelling with young families.
